THE COMPLEX:
Perhaps you can remember it, with popcorn and intermissions, the most exciting movies were screened here. After Cineac on the Buitenhof (now a Pathé theatre), the Metropole was the oldest still-operating movie theatre in The Hague. The last screening was in May 2004. After a few years staying empty, the building was demolished. Now, since 2007/09, this apartment building with the name Residence Metropole was erected, designed by KOW Den Haag. The new façade was built in the same semi-circle shape. The complex consists of thirty apartment. The apartment are quite different in lay-out and square footage. From the elevator you enter the hall. The living room has a beautiful herringbone parquetry floor and the characteristic fireplace make this to a room with ambience.
